Born Jan or Feb 1850. Died by 1920

Mother Sarah Mason born 1810 or 1816, Mississippi/Alabama
depending on which census.
Her parents born in North Carolina.

One census William states his parents born in Florida,
Calderwood states he was born in Alabama. Probably born in the part of Florida that later became Alabama.
West Florida, including Mobile, went from French to British to Spanish to American control during this time period so there was no US Census at first. Mobile was also part of the Mississippi Territory during part of this era.

Spouses James Breland and Obie B Cochran

In the 1930 Census, Gulfport, Harrison county, sister Pearl along with her husband James Breland and son Jimmy, were living with Ida and Homer.

as for Calderwood
Mobile marriage records show 2 marriages
one to S. Samuellond and one to Sally Lott

I found on sound alike census records Samuellond changes into Sumrall.

If there were 2 marriages, he had 3 sons by the 1st and possibly one daughter, 5 to 9 (maybe 1831) in 1840 census.

Older gone by 1840
1840 Mobile, Al census

named in 1850 Hancock Census as
Patsy,Elizabeth, Rachael,abt 1839
Rachel's marker has her born in 1841 instead.
Rachel married Perry A McCollister.

In 1841 Calderwood buys land in Clarke County, Ms
In 1850 they are in Habolochitto Hancock County, Ms
with the three sisters, and
Allen Mason abt 1841,
Nancy abt 1842
Wiley and William 8 months old.

By 1870 Census they are in Pass Christian Harrison Ms., Sarah Widowed by 1880 Census. She is also head of household in 1860 and 1870.
William Homesteaded near Wiggins,Harrison/Stone in 1895.
Family still here in 1910.

From the Apr 1892 homestead dates Allen and Wiley went to the land office together.

Allen homesteaded in Greene County and
Wiley in Perry/Forrest County, back with William 1910 Census.

One Sarah Mason homesteaded in Harrison County in 1884.
This may be the older daughter of Calderwood from 1840 census. (Richard, Jesse, and John also had daughters named Sarah)

Calderwood served part of a 5 year enlistment in Army as Pvt in Artillery 21 July 1812 to 5 Jan 1815 when he received an early General Discharge from Fort Moultrie, SC, possibly Medical reasons, sore legs and eyes noted. This may be where the Mason Ferry idea came from. The island had two.

In the 1820 Georgia census I found an older Calderwood Mason. This may be John Mason's brother?

From what I can tell, John Mason was born in Georgia about 1765. After the Revolutionary War, moved to Mobile, West Florida, where Calderwood was born. Possibly because Indians were killing British in the county, he moved to S.C. where he looked up his friend Noel Turner from the war.
Returned to Mobile by 1820 or so. One Census shows him living next to Calderwood. Polly and Jensey Mason born 1800 and 1815 in SC were living in and maybe Calderwood's older son.
Richard Mason in Greene County, Ms was born in SC 1797. May be his son.
