Mrs. Mescal G. Haskew, 76, died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at a Jacksonville, Fla., hospital.
Mrs. Haskew was born in Douglas and had lived in Jacksonville since 1947. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, was active with her sons in their outdoor and sports activities and loved to record and video tape old movies.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Frank B. Haskew; five sons, Ben (Terresa) Haskew, Richard "Rick" (Marsha) Haskew, Mark Haskew, Leslie "Les" (Kim) Haskew and Robert J. "Robby" Haskew; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Herring, Mrs. Sara Jean Veal and Mrs. Sylvia Hamby; a brother, John H. Grantham; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30 at the City Cemetery in Douglas, Georgia with Milt Fletcher officiating. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 at the North Jacksonville Chapel of Peeples Family Funeral Homes, 2220 Soutel Drive, Jacksonville, Fla. 32208.
