PEORIA - Ronnie Lee "Cherokee" Hightower, 59, of Kimball Township, Mich., stepfather of a Peoria woman, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Port Huron.
Born Dec. 18, 1941, in Warren, Ark., to Jules "Red" and Marjorie Higgins Hightower, he married LaVerne "Etta" Stovall on Sept. 29, 1986, in Port Huron. She survives.
Also surviving are his father; one stepdaughter, Cindy Bozarth of Peoria; one stepson, Steve (and Peggy) Hayes of Topeka; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Hightower of Manito and Sherri Santana of Shawnee, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He was a Navy veteran.
Services were Monday at Pollock-Randall Funeral Home in Port Huron. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Larry Nuttall will officiate.
