Ina died 8 Mar 1920 and left Walter with 2 small children, Edwin and Ruth.
He later moved to Springfield IL where he was a Account for the State of IL. He then married, Mary Campbell on 17 Mar 1923. She died, 19 Oct 1933
He married Margaret Bright Norris.

Surviving are his widow; a son, Dr. Edwin Carter Galbreath, Carbondale; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Wittenauer, Decatur; two stepsons, Henry D. Norris, Woodbury, N. Y., and Robert E. Norris, Affton, Mo.; two brothers, Clifford A., Charleston, and Max E. Batavia; a sister, Mrs. Annie Meyer. Charleston, and two grandchildren.
