He was born in Paxton on Nov. 11, 1917 to Samuel and Laura Pennington Adkins. He married Frances E. Weburg on Oct. 4, 1941. She preceded him on May 5, 1995. He was also preceded by his parents, four brothers and two sisters
He is survived by one son, Terry (Peggy) Adkins; two daughters, Arlie Lynn (Troy) Yancey and Linda Rae (Robert) Parr; one brother, John B. Adkins; two sisters, Rebecca Mabry and Josephine Skonberg; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He farmed in the Paxton area for 25 years and later managed grain elevators in Paxton, Bellflower and Jamaica.
