GALION -- Kendall H. Ivy II, 28, Staff Sgt., U.S.M.C., died in the line of duty Wednesday, May 11, 2005, in Iraq.
Born Sept. 15, 1976, in Galion, he was the son of Raymond Ivy and Venita "Kay" Duffner Ivy.
Very much a family man, he was looking forward to coming home and spending time with his family. Upon the completion of his service to the Marine Corps, he planned to continue his education and become a history teacher and coach. A 1995 Galion High School graduate, he was a well-known athlete, playing football and baseball.
He has proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 10 years where he was currently a Staff Sergeant in the infantry.
Surviving are his parents; his wife, Lee Ann R. Needs Ivy, whom he wed Sept. 21, 1996; children, Caleb, Harrison and Reagan Ivy (Their fourth child is expected in October); three brothers and a sister, Kenneth (Charlotte) Ivy, Kathy (Doug) Shifley and Kevin (Michelle) Ivy, all of Galion, and Keith (Becki) Ivy of Greenwich; 11 nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Jim and Lynn Needs of Port Ritchey, Fla.; and Sandy Craig of Galion.
A brother, Kendall Howard Ivy I, preceded him in death.
Friends may call 1-5 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, at Crossway Assembly of God, 200 Gelsanliter Road, Galion, conducted by Pastor Mark A. Meyer Sr. Interment at Fairview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Marine Corps.
