Country Musician. Born Ralph Gallant in Norfolk, Virginia, he was a versatile drummer regarded as one the best studio session players in the business. In the 1960s, he was signed to Motown Records recording with all the names in soul music when he moved to Nashville. There he started to record with country artists Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Charley Pride and Hank Snow. By the 1970s, he gained wide demand for his skills doing sessions with the likes of Tom Jones, Neil Young, Lee Ritenour, England Dan & John Ford Coley, Chet Atkins, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and many more. He also toured with Elvis Presley in his last years and with rockers Steve Perry and Journey in the 1980s. He died in Nashville, Tennessee and is rated in the top 100 drummers in the world by Drummerworld Magazine.
