Minerva was the fourth child born to Emma Elizabeth (Beears) and Quintus Albert Jacoby. She has the distinction to be the only one of their then four children who survived the Diphtheria epidemic in 1877 (they lost the first three within four days).

She married Stephen Henry Baker in 1871 and they had three children (of which the youngest lived only a few days). Stephen died in 1915 (barely 2 months after her mother had died), leaving her with Gertrude (age 12) and Stanley (age 16). After Gertrude married, Minerva lived with her and her new family for many years, until about 1952.

She died at 98 years and 6 months - to the day.
