My Grandmother Kathleen Marie Reno Simpson was born the oldest of twins to,John J.RenoandPheobe Caroline Anstett Reno, she also had around 10 other syblings . They were ,John Francis Reno, Jr ,Cyril Ignacious Reno, Evelyn Virginia Reno,Alvira Margaret Reno,Lucretia C. Reno,Josephine Reno,Martha Francis Reno,Mary Agnas Reno,Francis Reno, and Elizabeth Francis Reno.
She marriedSidney Louis Simpson in 1918 in Detroit Michigan , they had only one child my mother Florence Jean Simpson Fleury . He divorced my grandma Kathleen (Reno) Simpson in Nov. 1929 . March 30 1955 he passed away in Weir Kansas on a trip with his third wife.
Kathleen had seven grandchildren, and before she passed away she seen the first 2 greatgrandchildren out of over 27 more after that.Kathleen worked in Bonsecour Hospital in Detroit Michigan in the kitchen ,also worked in a retail store , and worked housekeeping in a hotel.
I remember one time she talked about meeting Helen Keller in Detroit at a hotel she was working at . She was a loving grandmother and mom. And a loving devoted Catholic.
Christmas times grandma made doll clothes for our dolls ,she sewed and croched alot. She would come from Detroit on a bus to Mount clemens and take my sis Carol and I back on a bus for the day and go to Detroit to go to Kresges five and dime store to look around and buy us candy and lunch and maybe a toy and then ride the bus back to mount clemens to take us home and visit for awhile and then ride the bus back to Detroit because she was staying with her sister Josephine .
In 1961- 1962 Grandma was living with my oldest sister Shirley, and her husband, Tom Pannett , cause she wasnt able to get around much at those times and it was closer for mom and sis to help take care of her .
One day we had a party because my sister Diane had come home from California from where she lived ,her baby,Patricia Louise Warlick, was only about 9 months old and my other neice Jeanna Marie Pannette, was 2 years old. While we were sitting around the table eating cake and ice cream, my oldest neice looked up in the ceiling and said mama there is a bird up there get the bird down mama. But we didnt see a bird, and she kept talking about a bird .
The next day my grandma was supposed to have her leg amputated, cause of a sore that wouldnt heal, and she was supposed to go to the hospital she was a diabetic, and in the early sixtys there wasnt much to be done for sores on diabetics as there is nowadays .
But she had passed away in the middle of the night ,sitting in her rocking chair, she loved to rock her grandchildren in. Grandma had always said she wasnt going to the hospital till she seen her granddaughter and second greatgranddaughter ,and she did get to see them the day before at the party, but the angel had come to take her to heaven that night. My sister Shirley who was 8 months pregnant at the time ,found grandma passed away ,in her rocker the next morning.
My mom said she thought the bird my neice seen in the ceiling must of been an angel,or the spirit of one of my grandmas long passed relatives that had come to take her to heaven, whereas us adults couldnt see anything, whereas a 2 year old did and she thought it was a bird.
I believe it was also an angel or her relative too who came to take grandma to heaven. We love you grandma and miss you ,and I am sure you are rocking all the baby's and young children that passed away before their time in Heavens Nursery. I still have your rocking chair you always sat in .
One night during the time grandma was laid out at the funeral home and there was visitation, I was babysitting for my 2 sisters daughters' at my sister's house . And I had just put the girls to bed and did the dishes and put them away and straightened up in her kitchen . So I went to the livingroom to watch tv . While I was watching tv I was sitting in my grandma's rocker , and all of a sudden I heard something drop to the floor in the kitchen. I went in there to see what happened and a drawer was opened where the silverware was kept and on the floor was a knife , I knew I closed the drawers and there wasnt anything on the floor when I got done cleaning the kitchen, I got scared then . And when mom and my sisters came back to the house I told her what had happened and she said she thought Grandma was leaving me a sign that she was ok, and I believed .

I wish you could of seen my children grandma , especially my daughter Michelle , she looked alot like you when she was seventeen years old as when you were sixteen. In fact her Birthday is July 5 , and yours was July 7.
We will see you again when we go to the everafter . Or maybe God will let you come for me when it is my time to go .

" It's Time " By Unknown
Every person is born, with a clock inside their soul
And God will wind that clock, until the bell will toll
They say that God will work, in ways we do not see
And until our final hour we will never see.

We will not see the light, nor the treasures we will hold
Until we are that sheep that comes to their Fathers fold
We will not see the ones, that came into HIS care
Until that final hour, when Our Father calls us there

One day our greatest hour, will also come to be
And when that hour comes, we will walk with THEE
In Heaven we will walk, and be at our Father's side
Never to feel any pain, or any selfish pride
Life is just a gift that lasts a little while
So that we may share love and offer others a little smile
That love that you gave us, will forever be in our hearts
And that smile which you gave our life, will forever be a part.

-Native American Prayer
I give you this one thought to keep
I am with you still, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am with you still, I do not sleep.
I am a thousands winds that blow,
I am the Diamond that glints
on the snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the
morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars
that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still,
in each new dawn.
