Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the Union Army at Greene County, Illinois in January, 1843. He served as a Lieutenant with Company C, 11th Missouri Infantry. On December 16, 1864 at Nashville, Tennessee, he captured the flag of the 34th Alabama Infantry (C.S.A.). Being the first to enter the works, he shot and wounded the enemy color bearer. His citation was issued February 24, 1865.
