Ellwood D. Heiser, of McSherrystown, departed this life May 3.

He was a son of the late Edward and Amy Frock Heiser.

Mr. Heiser was a veteran of World War II, having served as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy.

He had worked at Keystone Cabinet Company and Yingling's Thrifty Dutch Beverage Inc. Mr. Heiser retired from Emeco Industries in Hanover.

Mr. Heiser was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in McSherrystown, McSherrystown Knights of Columbus, Catholic War Veterans in Bonneauville and an avid member of Flatbush Golf Course Team Play. He was a past member of the Delone Catholic Athletic Association.

He was the husband of Helen Slagle Heiser for 56 years and surviving, in addition to her, are three sons, Ronald Heiser and Stephen Heiser, both of McSherrystown and William Heiser of Spring Grove; two daughters, Nancy Gouker of Hanover and Debra Long of Glenville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Reynolds and Anna Hood, both of Littlestown and Betty Rice of East Berlin; and two brothers, John Heiser of Gettysburg and Carroll Heiser of Hanover.

Ellwood was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Laura Heiser; two brothers, Edward Heiser and Frank Heiser; and one sister, Marion Chronister.
