He was a member of the Garden City Quoit Club, secretary and treasurer of the Minnesota Association, director of the Florence Crittenden Home, and director of the YMCA for eight years. He was always very active in church, community, and social welfare work. As a 30 year member of the Odd Fellows, he was laid to rest with the Odd Fellows ritual at Oak Hill Cemetery. He was a member of the Centella Methodist Church while living in San Jose.
He left a widow and seven children.
