Susie Alires, age 85, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Vida Encantada Nursing & Rehab Home.
Susie was born on December 8, 1927 in Las Tusas, NM to her parents, Benjamin Baca and Vicentita Silva Baca.
Susie was involved in starting the Las Vegas Housing Projects in Las Vegas, NM. Susie also worked for the Las Vegas City Schools for fourteen years as a Foster Grandparent. A Catholic, and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, son, Martín Baca, brothers, Benny Baca and Andres Baca and sister, Cecilia Lucero.
Susie is survived by her daughters, Theresa Salazar, Maxine Archuleta, Viola Martínez all of Las Vegas, NM, Antonia Martínez, Sylvia Martínez all of Albuquerque, NM, Patsy Lovato of Glorieta, NM and Annette Baca of Las Vegas, NM, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, sister, Estefanita Trujillo, brother, Manuel Baca and his wife, Susie all of Las Vegas, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Rosary service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. with Father Douglas Mitchell as Celebrant. Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following serving as casket bearers, Santiago Lovato, Nathan Martínez, Benji Archuleta, Richard Martínez, Kevin Stoddard and Jerry Trujillo. Serving as honorary will be her remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
