Son of Captain Edwin Patrick and Sarah O. (Goodwill) Patrick. He was married in 1888 to Miss Lottie Hart. They had nine children; Carrie, Le Grand, Edwin, Bryan, Helen, Robert, Hugh, Luke, and William. He was in the cattle industry and bred mostly Herefords.
Edwin died in Omaha, Nebraska, due to complications from surgery. He was originally buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha next to his parents. His remains were moved to Torrington after the death of his wife, Lottie Hart Patrick.
