CARR -- Frank William, passed away at his home in Palm Beach, FL on December 15, 2005. He was 94 years old. Born December 9, 1911 in Judsonia, AR, he was one of seven children. Mr. Carr graduated from high school in Farmington, IA in 1928, from the University of Pennsylvania in 1932 with a B.A. degree and from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1935 with an L.L.B. degree. He worked as an attorney with E. I. Du Pont et Nemours and continued to practice law for many years. His primary career involved oil and gas exploration in Texas and in France. Mr. Carr served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945 and remained in the reserve until his honorable discharge in 1949. He was a Naval aviator and primarily taught beginning pupils to fly for the French government, one of whom was Phillipe de Gaulle, the son of General de Gaulle. His great joy in life was French food and wine. He spent many years motoring through the lovely French countryside and eating in their great restaurants. He was an accomplished student of Shakespeare. He is preceded in death by his former wife May Dougherty King, his wife Edith Backus Carr, and his son Frank William Carr, Jr. Mr. Carr is survived by his daughter Frances Carr Tapp and her husband Felix; granddaughter Elizabeth Rachael Carr; great grandson William Carr Phillips; his brothers James Edward Carr and Sydney Lanier Carr; a sister Betty Carr Frasier and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the Chapel of Bethesda-By-The-Sea in Palm Beach.
