Stockport Woman Buried Yesterday
Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Brewer of Stockport were held yesterday afternoon at the Stockport Christian church with the Rev. S. P. Williamson of Fairfield in charge. Burial was in the Glasgow cemetery. Mrs. Brewer had been ill for the past several months.
Shw was the daughter of Joseph and Hanie Howell and was born in Glasgow November 4, 1860. She passed away at her home Saturday, June 26 at the age of 87 years.
September 26, 1880 she was married to W. H. Brewer and in the fall of 1887 they opened a hotel in Stockport which they operated for many years. They later moved to Fairfield where they lived for 24 years. After her husband's death, Mrs. Brewer returned to Stockport to be near her daughter.
Surviving are two daughters and a son, Mrs. Emma Workman of Stockport; Mrs. Gladys Hodson of Mt. Pleasant and Edgar Brewer of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Ben Howell of Kitchner, British Columbia. Two daughters preceded her in death, one in infancy, and Nora Ethel, at the age of two years.
She had been a member of the Christian church since early girlhood.
