BAXTER James Lamont, left us on July 2, 2005. He was born on May 3, 1912, in Hastings, Oklahoma, to James Henry and Clara Ross Baxter, growing up in Dallas, Texas, and got two degrees from the University of Oklahoma. The Great Depression sent him to the United States Navy, where he spent four years seeing the world, came home, and met the love of his life, Evelyn. In three months, they were married, and after 66 years, she calls him the kindest, sweetest, smartest, most wonderful man in the world. He could do anything. He became one of fifty-five people at that time to become both a Certified Public Accountant and an Attorney. Lamont and Evelyn traveled to eighty-three countries over the years. He loved traveling, golf, his golfing buddies, bridge, and crossword puzzles. He was named Honor Man of his Navy company both the first time he enlisted in the Navy, and again when World War II called him to the South Pacific, this time as an officer on a tanker, refueling warships. He had the same job as Mr. Roberts in the book (and movie) of the same name. How his family and friends already miss this darling man! He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Janice and son-in-law, Hector Bernal; grandsons, Norman, Daniel and his wife, Dr. Sara; brother, Granville; and nephew, David. Services: 2:00 PM, Friday, July 8, 2005, All Soul's Episcopal Church, 6400 N. Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City. CREMATION SOCIETY 1145 W. Britton Rd. 843-3345
