J Myron Adair, 87, died peacefully at his home on April 11, 2013, of natural causes in the arms of his life-long sweetheart and loving wife of 66 years, Doris Johnson Adair. He was born in St. George, Utah, June 22, 1925 to Myrtle Celestia Barnum and Josiah Hoyt Adair.
Shortly after the time of his mother's death on his fourth birthday, Myron, along with his father and older sister, Lyle (Jakeman), moved to Enterprise, Utah, where their grandmother, Lucy H. Adair, helped raise them for a period of time while Josiah worked in the mines. Myron attended school in Panaca, Nevada and graduated from Lincoln County High School in 1943.
Shortly after graduation Myron joined the U.S. Navy on May 23, 1943 and left for foreign seas on the USS General John Pope during World War II. After serving in the Navy Myron went back to Panaca, Nevada where he met Doris and it was love at first sight. After a brief courtship, he launched into life by marrying Doris on September 20, 1947, in Pioche, Nevada.
He worked for a few years as a miner and later attended Utah State University on the GI Bill in Logan, Utah and graduated as an electrical engineer. Myron and Doris made their home and raised their family living in such places as Panaca, Nevada; Logan, Utah; Seattle, Washington; Rose Park (SLC), Utah; and eventually Morgan, Utah. They gave their marriage and family the promise of the eternities when they sealed their love and their four children in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1958. Myron's successful career as an electrical engineer gave him to opportunity to work for such companies as Sperry/Univac, Boeing, and finally, Hill Air Force Base until retirement.
During their life together, Myron and Doris created strong bonds of friendship with those in their wards and neighborhoods. They had many friends, and their families enjoyed outings together. Prior to his retirement, Myron and Doris moved to Morgan, Utah. Their desire was to live in the same countryside where Myron had spent time growing up on his Aunt Ella and Uncle Milton's farm. In Morgan they realized their dreams to raise horses, grow their own vegetables in a large garden and enjoy the great outdoors. Myron and Doris loved animals and always had dogs, rabbits and other critters which were loved by the children to this day. The family's favorite vacation spot was the Great Northwest where they enjoyed the outdoors by camping, salmon fishing, clam digging and crabbing with their friends and neighbors.
Myron was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the second counselor in the bishopric and he and Doris proudly served two full-time missions in their later years. They served first in Portland, Oregon, and later in Salt Lake City at the Family History Center.
Myron was a wonderful father with a large heart, a great sense of humor and always had an amusing story to tell and a song to sing. He spent quality time fishing, hunting, riding horses, and camping with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, leaving them all with wonderful memories of an amazing man.
Myron is survived by his wife Doris; his sister Lyle Jakeman of Orem, Utah, his children Vicki Adair-Jensen of San Diego, CA; Bonnie Adair of Willits, CA; Russell Adair (Diana) of Herriman, UT; and Richard Adair of Morgan, UT; along with their 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and their beloved dachshunds, Penny and Lucy.

A memorial service will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Milton Ward, 1255 N. Morgan Valley Dr. in Morgan. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Milton Cemetery.
