Dorothy Spreckels Munn, the granddaughter of the San Francisco sugar baron and a longtime Pacific Heights hostess, Mrs. Munn, 86, had lived in Florida since the mid-1980s. She was the last family member to reside at the famed Spreckels mansion on Washington Street in San Francisco's Pacific Heights. A native of San Francisco, Mrs. Munn was the daughter of Adolph Bernard Spreckels and his flamboyant wife, Alma, and the granddaughter of sugar company founder Claus Spreckels. She was a graduate of the Hamlin School in San Francisco.She lived for many years in Paris and was active in the restoration of Versailles and Giverny. She was also a major supporter of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor art museum and of many organizations that fought cruelty to animals. Mrs. Munn was a champion contract bridge player and held the title of life master. In 1985, she left the San Francisco mansion that she had lived in for 72 years and moved with her husband to Palm Beach.
