Mrs. Hettie Clara Alston, 81, widow of Clarence Alston, and a resident of 503 23rd St., Gulfport, was pronounced DOA Monday at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. Mrs. Alston born June 8, 1896, in Fountainbleu, Miss., was a former employee of Brumfield Drug Store. She was a member of the Church of Christ and had been a resident of the Coast for over 60 years. She is survived by two sons, Clarence Orphie Alston, Gulfport, Mrs. Emma Berryhill, Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Edward Webb and Dan Webb, Mobile, Ala.; and Ralph Webb, Ocean Springs; one sister, Mrs. Carolyn Jones, Pasadena, Tex.; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Friends may call from 7- 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joe Risener, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Gardens.
