He went on to become Vice President and Secretary of the St. Joseph Herald Press Company, which was affiliated with the News-Palladium.
He was a former chairman of the Berrien County Republican Party and in 1962 had the honor of joining 23 other Michigan newspaper executives for dinner with President Kennedy at the White House.
At the time of his death, he was President of the Palladium Publishing Company, which operated the Benton Harbor News-Palladium and radio station WHFB. He was also a board member of the Mercy Hospital Board of Trustees, where he served 23 years as president and led 2 successful building campaigns.
