"Diana Kern (nee Silver), 84, passed away on April 18, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by her dear husband, Maxwell, who passed away in 1990. She was the beloved mother to Karen and her husband Michael Flamholtz of Highland Mills, N.Y. and Susan and her husband Barry Willner of Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. She was the cherished grandmother to Elise and her husband Philip, Marcy, Marjorie and Wendy. She was the loving sister of Ruth Sonkin and the late Miriam Hoffman, as well as a loving aunt.

She enjoyed a long career in education as a full professor at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. She was a woman ahead of her time and was active in many fraternal and professional organizations, but the importance of family was the central focus of her life.

Shivah will be observed Wednesday and Thursday at the Flamholtz residence.

Arrangements by Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State Street, Spring Valley, N.Y. 845-356-8600."
