James C. Anderson, 48, of Eau Claire, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital after a brave and courageous battle with complications from Hepatitis C. He was born on December 7, 1956, the son of Clifford and Lorraine (Dunn) Anderson.

On August 4, 1979, James married Pauline Long at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Black River Falls.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman for 22 years where he served at Bethesda Naval Base in Bethesda, Md., Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., aboard the USS Guam out of Norfolk, Va., seeing tours in Beirut and Grenada, Great Lakes Naval Station in Great Lakes, Ill., and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He retired from the Navy in June of 1996 from the 8th Marine Corps District, Kansas City, Mo. Jim earned two National Defense Service Medals, Meritorious Unit Commendation, a Navy Unit Commendation Medal and Navy Expeditionary Medal. He was currently employed at Menards in their general office.

Jim enjoyed fishing, camping and canoeing, coin collecting, aquariums, channel surfing and the family pets. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Jim was very outgoing in the assistance of others. His dry sense of humor and quick wit will be remembered.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; two sons, Adam and Isaac; his mother, Lorraine "Pokey" of Black River Falls; two sisters, Jill Miller of Mosinee and Julie (Randy) Johnson of Black River Falls; father-in-law, Jack Long of Black River Falls; two sisters-in-law, Susan (Mike) Nordahl of Black River Falls and Lisa (Steve) Becker of Delray Beach, Fla.; close friends, Kevin Patton and Dale and Cindy Larson all of Eau Claire; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford; and beloved pets.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor David K. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery where American Legion Post 53 will conduct military funeral rites.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3214 Golf Road, Eau Claire, Wis., 54701.
