ELGIN FOWLER
"Elgin Fowler, 89, died at Roosevelt General Hospital Thursday evening February 25, 1988 following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 23, 1898, in Arcadia, Neb., to the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Fowler. He came with is family from Nebraska to Crosbyton, Texas, when he was sixteen.
It was in Crosbyton, on August 11, 1920, he was married to Alene M. Parker. They farmed in Crosbyton for several years, then moved to Muleshoe, Texas. They moved to New Mexico in 1932, and in 1936 he moved his family to the Floyd community.
He retired in 1976 and moved to Portales.
He is survived by two sons, Clayton of Floyd and Marvin of Portales; by two daughters, Bertha Gregory of Floyd and Fayrene Peipelman of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Lettie Parker of Crosbyton and other near relatives.
Services will be Sunday, February 28, 1988, 2 p.m. at Wheeler's Starlight Chapel with the Rev. Neal Foster officiating. Burial will be in the Floyd Cemetery at the side of his wife, who died March 8, 1982.
Pallbearers will be Pid Luce, Johnny Smith, Wayne Hahn, Wiley Andrews, Wiley Russell, Tommy Williams. All friends will be honorary pallbearers. If so desired memorials may be made to the Floyd Cemetery Association in lieu of flowers."
