This is my 3rd-great grandfather. Records show he was a deputy sheriff and a keeper of public records for the district he lived in in Dandridge, Jefferson Co., TN. He was a postmaster in Jefferson County, Tenn., from 14 Feb 1853 until 6 Oct 1859. He married Susannah Coppock (1804-1879) on August 28, 1828. He was the father of at least seven children: Hettie O. Alderson Smith 1831-1900, William P. Alderson 1834-1891?, Elizabeth Jane Alderson Hatcher 1837-1923, Lucinda Alderson Mount 1839-1884, James N. Alderson 1841-?, Isaac Alderson 1843-?, and Phoebe Alderson Bettis 1845-1889.
