CLEVELAND, October 1, 2004 – Four students and a Corrections Officer, all of Cleveland were killed Friday morning as the result of a tragic accident on SH 105 less than one mile west from the intersection of CR 351 and SH 105 near the Cornerstone Church.

According to investigating DPS Trooper Troy Dyson, A 1995 Geo Prism, driven by Brenlin Russell Johnson age 18 of Cleveland, was traveling east on SH 105 toward Cleveland when it attempted to pass several vehicles. It left the roadway onto the westbound improved shoulder. It then attempted to veer back into the eastbound lane, crossing the westbound lane. Due to the high volume of traffic, the Geo Prism was unable to return to the eastbound lane and overcorrected in the westbound lane.

A westbound Buick sedan driven by Willard Bell, a Corrections Officer age 32 of Cleveland, collided with the passenger side of the Geo Prism splitting the Geo Prism in half between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.

It was struck by the front half of the Geo Prism.
According to reports all were wearing seat belts. Three of the four students in the Geo Prism were to graduate from high school this academic year.

Justice of the Peace Precinct 6, Fred Dishongh, conducted an inquest and pronounced all four students and the driver of the Buick sedan, Willard Bell a Corrections Officer age 32 of Cleveland, dead at the scene.

The students killed in the Geo Prism were:
Brenlin Russell Johnson age 18, his fiance' Gina Hechavaria Aldana age 17, Matthew Jose Montemayor, age 17 and Matthew sister, Jeannie Lynn Montemayor age 16 all of Cleveland
