David was born in Woodland, Ill., on Feb 1, 1937, to the late Stahl and Irene (Rogers) Bennett.
Mr. Bennett served in the Army. He retired as a truck driver for EA Ferry Trucking in Watseka, Ill. He enjoyed tinkering and motorcycles.
He is survived by sons: Paul Giroux of Benton, Ill., David Bennett Jr. (Kim Happ) of Delphi, Bill Bennett (Cathy) of Rockfield, and daughter, Angie Hunt (David Ramsey) of Pittsburg; sister, Berniece Haile of Manning, S.C.; ex-wife and good friend, Joy Bennett Gibson of Delphi; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 2 p.m. services on Monday, April 8, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Pastor Brent Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Zion Citizens Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Delphi and Camden American Legions and Delphi VFW.
