Phyllis Atherton, 81, died Thursday, March 24, 2005. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Highland Park Christian Church. Burial will take place in the Chapel Hill Gardens.
Phyllis was born August 31, 1923 in Boone to Alexander and Lottie (McCracken) Patterson. She worked at the Heaven to Seven Clothing Store and later worked as a nurse for De. Richard Gloor for 13 years. She was a member of the Highland Park Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess and sang in the church choir for many years, she also was a member of the Stewardess Club
Phyllis was a very positive, caring and loving person whose family was the center of her life. In addition to her devotion to her family, Phyllis brought joy and a sense of well-being to her many friends.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Thomas Atherton of Des MOines; son,Thomas (Carla) Atherton of West Des Moines; daughter, Jan (Steve) Schneckloth of West Des Moines and Linda (Mike) Myers of Waukee; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by per parents, brothers, Archie and Dean Patterson.
