James Saunders Phillips, 58, of Waynesboro, passed away at his home Tuesday, December 14, 2010.

He was born in Waynesboro, July 28, 1952, the son of the late Maynard and Elizabeth Phillips.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Judith Ann Carter Phillips; a brother, Charles W. Phillips; and a sister, Pat Phillips Cooper.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer R. Phillips and her companion, Marty Haynes, of Waynesboro; his son, Jamie Phillips and his companion, Vicky Via, of Waynesboro; his grandchildren, Nikolas and Sidney Haynes, Jaden, Sierra and Brandon Phillips, and Vickie's children, Erica and Becca; his brother, Dale Phillips and his wife, Marsha, of Richmond; his aunt, Angela Walsh of Waynesboro; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Carter; his nieces and nephews and their families, and special friends, A. W. and Cindy Sprouse.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 1316 Hamlet Avenue, Waynesboro, Virginia.
