Joseph W Barton Died Tuesday - Funeral Will Be Held Today
Joseph W Barton, Civil War veteran and resident of this city for the past seven years, died at his home, 1514 South Grant street, Tuesday night.
Funeral arrangements have been made for this forenoon at 10:30 from the home, Rev. Kneedy officiating. Interment will be made in Riverside cemetery.
Joseph W. Barton was born in Washington county, Iowa, June 24, 1845. At the age of 16 years he enlisted in Company D, Fourth Regiment, Iowa Cavalry, and served during the four years of the Civil War. He was married October 16, 1873, to Emily E. Johnson and for a number of years lived at Gravity, Iowa, from which place he moved to Aberdeen seven years ago. He has since lived in this city.
Left to mourn his loss are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. F. Maltby of Chicago, Mrs. I Hopkins of Selden, Kansas, Miss Elsie Barton of Aberdeen, and Miss Esther Barton of Sante Fe, New Mexico; and a son, Frederick T Barton of Alleghany, Oregon. There are also two brothers and a sister living.
