Judge Ed Gunn, 77, former district attorney, was laid to rest in IOOF Cemetery, Rockdale, Friday, following funeral services at the First Methodist Church, Cameron. He died 5:30 a.m. Thursday at a local hospital after several weeks illness. Gunn had been a schoolteacher, justice of the peace and city attorney of Rockdale. He served as district attorney for Milam County for 10 years. He was a resident of Cameron for 15 years, living either in Rockdale or Cameron all his life. He was born in Milam County Dec. 13, 1879.

The Rev. E.J. Davis officiated at funeral services in the Cameron First Methodist Church. Members of the County Bar Association served as pallbearers. The body lay in state for an hour at the church before funeral services began. Gunn was a member of the Methodist Church and both the state and County Bar Association. He also belonged to the Knights of Pythias and the IOOF.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Elmer, San Marcos; four daughters, Mrs. Leo Mall, Beaumont; Mrs. Zeb Fitzgerald, San Marcos, Mrs. Otto Matthews, Yoakum, and Mrs. Wesley White, Houston; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Cameron Herald (Cameron, Texas) June 20, 1957
