Mr. John W. Polak, 82, of Marcy, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2004, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born in Utica, a son of Michael and Helen Sypek Polak, and attended local schools.

John was employed as a Silversmith for Oneida Ltd. for 25 years until his retirement in 1984.

He was married to the former Elizabeth Van Etten, who died in 2002. Together they enjoyed traveling on many trips with other members of the West Side Center.

He leaves his beloved family, John W., Jr. and Deirdre Polak, of Marcy, Roger and Phillippa Palak, Utica, Dawn Polak, Utica, Patricia Sanderson, Ballston Lake, Linda and Marty Fox, of N. Syracuse; grandchildren, Eric, Roger, Jennifer (his special "angel"), Brian, Kira, Phillip and Robert; and six great-grandchildren; a beloved sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Carmen Bianco, Clinton; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Edward, Chester and Leo; and two sisters, Genevieve (Jane) Sychtysz and Sadie Zastawny.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 from Myslinski Funeral Home, Inc., 470 French Rd. Private interment services will be in Carr Cemetery in Marcy. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday (today) from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice Care, Inc. The family will be forever grateful to Connie, Debbie and Kathy, with special thanks to Mitchell and Tammy, for all their care and kindness during this difficult time.
