Cartersville, Ga- Alan Lee Blankenship died March 27, 2013 in Cartersville, Georgia of natural causes.
Born in Washington, DC on February 2, 1955 to the late Forrest and Vivian Blankenship, Alan grew up in Macon and attended Bibb County Schools. His passion for sports stemmed in part from his days in the 1960's when he was the bat boy for the Macon Peaches. In later years he was active in community intramural sports to include involvement with the Nike Pro-Am Golf Tournaments. He was a certified gemologist and for many years owned Alan's Jewelers on Forsyth Road.
He is survived by his daughter, Sterling Blankenship, Atlanta; sister, Laura Strange (Jim), Atlanta; niece, Leslie Fisher (Rob) Atlanta; nephew, Adam Strange, Birmingham, and several aunts and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on April 20 at 2pm at East View Cemetery, 725 Kingston Avenue, Rome Georgia. Donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
