She is survived by her husband James B. Bennett, daughter Kathryne B. Hillier, son-in-law Jeffrey S. Hillier and grandsons Travis W. Hillier and Cameron J. Hillier of Dallas and son Wiley B. Bennett and daughter-in-law Margaret R. Bennett of Houston. Kathryn was the third child of the late Leslie W. Giddens and Eunice Green Giddens. Her surviving siblings are Margaret Giddens Walberg and Leslie W. Giddens Jr. both of Corpus Christi, TX. Kathryn graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in geology in 1961. She and her husband lived in Shreveport, Louisiana for the next 10 years where she taught high school math for five of those years. They moved to Houston in 1970 and Kathryn was active for the next 34 years in various community organizations and professional associations related to her husband's profession. She served as President of the Lakeside Improvement Association and Lakeside Women's Club as well as President of the Houston Geological Auxiliary and served in many other capacities with those organizations. She also served on committees and volunteered in other capacities with her dear friends for the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies. Over the years, she advised, edited and typed all of the reports, recommendations and data sheets for her husband's and his business partner's consulting business. She was a highly motivated, organized and intelligent individual who truly cared for people. She dearly loved her friends and neighbors. She nurtured, loved and guided her children with all the intelligence and wisdom she possessed. She loved her grandsons Travis and Cameron and longed to see them grow into outstanding young men. These were the things paramount in her life. She was married to J.B., as she called him, for 43 years and theirs was truly an equal and steadfast partnership. No husband could have asked for a more caring and loving partner.
