(His tombstone shows "Fursden" but "Fursdon" is the correct surname for his family.)

James was born about 1832 in Burrington, Devon, England, the 6th of 7 children born to John & Elizabeth (Warren) Fursdon.

By 1860, we find most of their children had migrated to America. The parents stayed in England, John died in 1869 and Elizabeth in 1866.

In 1860, James Fursdon is 27 years old and living in the household with his sister, Mary Ann, and her husband John Rowe, in Flushing, Michigan. He is still there in 1870 and classified as "idiotic." He's still with them in 1880 and "works on farm."

James died on 10 November 1900 in Flushing, Genesee County, Michigan.
