Albert Roetman, Hospers, died Wednesday October 18, 1995 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa. Services were held on Monday, October 23 1995 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Hospers with Rev. Brian Janssen officiating. Burial followed at the Newkirk Cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.
Albert Roetman was born February 11, 1923 at Rock Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of John and Dena (Smith) Roetman. He grew up in several towns in northwest Iowa. His father was a baker. Albert attended public schools in Little Rock and Hospers.
On February 14, 1948 he was united in marriage to Alice Smith. They made their home in Bellflower, California. Albert worked for Planet's Manufacturing in Downey, California, and later furthered his education and became an electrician.
He attended the Baptist Church in Downey, California and the Presbyterian Church in Hospers. He retired when Alice's health became poor. He cared for her as long as he could. She passed away on December 11, 1978.
After her death he married Henrietta Kamstra at Hospers on October 21, 1981. They made their home in Hospers. Albert entered the nursing wing in Rock Rapids in 1992 and in 1993 he became a resident of the Heritage Home in Orange City. In May of 1995 he entered the Hartley Alzheimer's Unit where he passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 1995 at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 7 days.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice, his father John Roetman and his sister Dorothy (Mrs. Wilbert) Oldenkamp.
