Roy was the son of Dephro and Cora Elizabeth (Woodall) Staley. He married Rodena Langley in 1919 and they had three children: Charles Wesley, Colvin Fida and Cora Elizabeth.

Funeral for Roy D. Staley, 73, of 1313 Florida St., who died Saturday in Watts Hospital in Durham, was held at 2 p.m. today in First Pilgrim Holiness Church by Rev. Robert I. McClusky, pastor. Entombment was in Westminster Gardens with C. A. Holland, D. C. Hall Sr., Jack Tilley, A. R. Chambers, Max W. Gallimore, and L. B. Gallimore as pallbearers.
