Obituary

A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Kinder, she died Thursday, April 14, 2011, in Baton Rouge. She was 76. Visiting was at Life Church, 15267 Joe Sevario Road, Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by Pastor Cresley Pierce and Pastor Brad McKenzie. Interment in the church cemetery. She is survived by daughters, Barbara and husband Barry Blackwell, and Ruth Newkirk; sons, Joseph C. Fontenot Jr. and wife Christine, Norris Wassan and wife Lynn, and Paul Dykes and wife Jennifer; a sister, Luna Loyce Rowland; brothers, Ernest Ray Kelly and wife Lou, and Robert Kelly and wife Gracie; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, George and Necy Kelly. She was known to her family as "Our Rock."
