Dick was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Geneseo, a son of LaVern and Dorothy M. (Pifer) Acker. He was a dairy farmer for most his life, working on the Acker Farm in Springwater. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the National Rife Association.
Dick is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Gerald Robert and Adeline Acker of Wayland; his aunts and uncles Gertrude Callaro of Mt. Morris, Vivian Pifer of Oregon, Helen and William Francis of Atlanta, Sylvia and Harmon Pifer of Springwater, Alva Francis of Bath, and Wesley Pifer of Poughkeepsie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends called 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Walter E. Baird & Sons Funeral home, 100 E. Naples St., Wayland, where funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Stanley Lewis officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Scottsburg.
