Carol was born February 28, 1922 in Spokane to Daniel and Florence Plummer Gibson. She grew up in the Spokane Valley and graduated from Wetherwax High School in Aberdeen, WA. in 1939. She attended Gray's Harbor Community College for a short time and then completed her nurse's training at Tacoma General Hospital in 1943. She moved back to Spokane and worked at Deaconess Hospital for a short time before moving to Colfax in 1944 and starting work for the Bryant-Weisman Clinic. She married Edward Abbott June 16, 1946 in Spokane. They moved to LaCrosse in 1951 where Eddy had a barber shop and Carol kept busy as a homemaker and mother. Carol began private duty nursing in 1959 and in 1961 went back to St. Ignatius Hospital. She was the public health nurse in Whitman County for many years before retiring in 1984.
She was an avid reader and an active member of Christian Life Assembly in St. John.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Ann Lutz of Snohomish, WA. and two grandsons, Jacob and Benjamin. Her husband passed away February 11, 1994 and she was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Edward, a granddaughter, Christina and a brother, Don.
