SOUTHBRIDGE - Cecelia T. (Puccilli) Chasse, 90, of Marjorie Lane died Friday, March 15th, in the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, after a brief illness.
Her husband of 65 years, Martial R. Chasse, died in 2008. She leaves two sons, Mark R. Chasse and his wife Maura of Berlin, CT and Jeffrey M. Chasse and his wife Mary Alice of Sturbridge; a daughter, Patricia A. Chasse of Oakham; a close family friend who she considered a daughter, Brenda Robbins of Oakham; two sisters, Rose Allard of Southbridge and Anna Perazzola of Southbridge; six grandchildren, Meghan, Patrick, Jennifer, Anthony, Emily and Catherine; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Natalie Chasse, died in 1951. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Carlo "Charlie" Puccelli and Biagio Puccilli and a sister, Angelina Langer-Leduc. She was born in Southbridge the daughter of Peter and Natalina (Anselmi) Puccilli.
Cecelia was a secretary for Ruth Wells at the Old Sturbridge Village many years ago. She later worked as a secretary for her husband in his insurance business and a secretary at Chasse and Roche law firm before retiring several years ago. Cecelia had an unquenchable thirst for life that was shown in many activities she participated in. She adored her grandchildren and delighted in hearing about their many accomplishments in school, sports and careers. She enjoyed playing golf and was a long time member of Cohasse Country Club in Southbridge and was never afraid to offer a tip to improve your game. She also enjoyed cooking homemade Italian dinners and desserts. She was a seamstress and enjoyed teaching yoga to her grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Mary's Church, serving as a CCD teacher and Eucharistic Minister and was an active member of its St. Rita's Society. Above all she was dedicated to her family which was her true passion and from where she derived all her joy.
The family would like to thank all of her caretakers especially Lisa Bedard and Cookie DiMetri whom made it possible for Cecelia to continue to live in her home in recent years.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 19th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:30am in St. Mary's Church of the Blessed John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Monday, March 18th, from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Rita's Society of the Blessed John Paul II Parish, 279 Hamilton St., Southbridge, MA 01550.
