Obituary
Joseph T. (Papa) Baker, beloved husband, dad and grandpa, age 82, of Griffith, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nellie; children, three sons: Daniel Baker of California, M (K) Baker of Lowell and S Baker of Griffith; one daughter, C (P) Murray of North Judson; grand-father of 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Bill (Etta) Baker of AZ; three sisters: Ruby (Joe) Lukacsek of AZ, Dorothy Kowalski of AZ and Barbara Kurtek of AZ; one sister in law, Mary Alice (James) Baker of Lowell. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home Chapel. Bill Halsted Minister officiating. Burial Chapel Lawn. Friends are invited to meet with the family Wednesday, February 2, 2005 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland. Mr. Baker was retired from LTV Steel after 28 years. He was formerly employed at Standard Oil for 19 years, a veteran of the United States Army Air Force WWII, a POW in Germany for 18 months. He was a member of the American Legion Post #66 in Griffith and the VFW Post #9982, who will jointly hold services at 4 PM Wednesday.
