Ada Violet Crowley Dixon, 78, was born November 9, 1911, at Houston, the daughter of Lewis Crowley and Ora Sutton Crowley. She died February 7, 1990. According to an autopsy report, she died of strangulation when a piece of food became lodged in her throat. She was pronounced dead when a fire destroyed her home east of Houston.
She married Tilford Edgar Dixon June 27, 1929. They had four children.
She spent most of her life in the Ozark community southeast of Houston and was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church. She worked for a time at Angelica Garment Factory at Summersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Charles Edward; and four sisters, Letha Chambers, Augusta Haught, Zelta Burch, and Ida West.
Surviving are two sons, Edgar Dixon of Eldora, Iowa, and Ronnie Dixon of Houston; one daughter, Betty Dixon of Houston; one brother, W. T. "Bill" Crowley of Houston; two sisters, Nellie Brick of Rocky Ford, Colorado; and a twin, Ina West of Houston; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston were February 10 at the Ozark Cemetery with the Rev. Kendall Ford officiating.
