She was a native of Clay County where she lived most of her life. She had worked as a thread runner for Standard Thacher Company for 15 years, and had attended Freewill Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late James Monroe Nelson and Dora Lou Dailey Nelson. Surviving are two sisters, Ottie Faye Ashe of Hayesville, and Alice G. Passmore of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a brother, Oscar Nelson of Rossville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Tuesday, May 29 in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville with Rev. Chris Rumfelt officiating. Interment was in the Hayesville First United Methodist Cemetery. Pallbearers were Owen, Larry, and Terry Nelson, David McClure, Bill Cody and Thurman Eller.
The family received friends from 12-1:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 29 at the Ivey Funeral Home, Hayesville prior to the services.
