Vada Louise Russell Alford, 70, of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of St. Albans, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the home of her niece after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her son, Wilbern Lee Alford Jr., "Hot Rod," whom she loved dearly; her parents John and Donnie Russell; her sisters, Geraldine Rogers and Connie Justice.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbern Lee Alford Sr., "Shorty"; daughters, Karen Kapl and husband, Thomas, and Dora Jones; son, Ritchie Alford and wife, Angie; grandchildren, Wayne and Jackie Meadows, Channie Alford, Christopher and Jeremy Jones; and great-grandchildren, Christine, Tristan, Teagan, Kaitlin, Kevin, all of Wilmington. Also surviving are sister, Ella Loveless of St. Albans; brothers, Ronnie Russell of Florida, Eugene Russell, Charles Ervin Russell of St. Albans, and a host of nieces and nephews and family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 15, 2008, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Avenue, St. Albans, with the Rev. Juanita Eads officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar....
