Chaffee Grant, 57, son of U.S. Grant, Jr., who made his home in San Diego many years before his death in 1929, died in an Indio hospital Monday after a long illness, according to word received yesterday.
Mr. Grant was a nantive of New York and came to San Diego with his parents 50 years ago. He attended San Diego schools and resided here until three years ago when he moved to Coachella.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Martin Smith, Jr. and a son, Jerome C. Grant, both of Salem Center, NY, Mrs. Edmond King, Seattle, and a brother U.S. Grant IV, Los Angeles.
