Raymond Guy McFarland was born to Grace and Samuel McFar­land, May 23, 1883 at Parksburg, Iowa. He moved to Laurens, Iowa with his parents in 1895 and five years later to a farm near Garber, Oklahoma. He grew to manhood at Garber and in 1912 he pioneered to Texas County and filed on a claim eleven miles northwest of Texhoma where he made his home until his passing, July 11, 1953, at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 18 days.
On, November 8, 1948 he was united in marriage with Jennie Lee Michaels Thomson who was a loving wife and devoted companion.
Raymond was one of the few original settlers who remained in the community despite the hardships he encountered. Even though he endured more than his share of the trials and
tribulations of this life and had been in failing health for several years his willingness to work hard never diminished. One of his greatest pleasures in life was that of helping his neighbors.
He is survived by his wife Jennie, one sister Marguerite Mae " Maggie " Batterson of Texhoma, two brothers, Earl of Garber, and Robert of Amarillo. Texas.
