Christine Diane Benavídez, age 42, loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, was born on October 12, 1961 went to be with our Lord on April 16, 2004.
Christine is survived by her husband, Tomás, loving daughters, Danielle age 18, Justeen age 16 and Alexondria age 12, loving parents, Cresencio and Alice Griego, sisters, Edwina Abreu and her husband, Alfred, Rose Sandoval and her husband, Joseph, father-in-law and mother in-law, Tom and Kathy Benavídez and brother in-laws, Michael Benavídez and David Benavídez, special nieces and nephews, Janelle, Alfred Jr. and Brittany Abreu, Nicholas Sandoval, Michael Benavídez Jr., Marissa and Megan Benavídez.
Christine was a native of Albuquerque but lived in Taos, New Mexico, for the past six years. Christine attended Del Norte High School.
Christine was truly a special woman and mother devoted to her children. Christine had the warmest and biggest heart and opened it up to everyone. Christine loved her dog, Eddy and to take long drives while listening to country music.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday April 19, 2004 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2004. A burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. A memorial mass will also be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at 5:30 p.m. at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church in Ranchos de Taos, Taos, NM. Pallbearers will be Alfred Abreu Sr., Alfred Abreu Jr., Joseph Sandoval, Michael Benavidez Sr., Michael Benavidez Jr. and David Benavidez. Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas Sandoval, Marcos Martínez and Raymond Cortez.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to an Education fund setup for her daughters at New Mexico State Employees Credit Union or the Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
