PLATTSBURGH — Edmund H. "Papa Ed" Annis, 79, formerly of Flynn Avenue died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Peru, on April 9, 1930, the son of Edmund and Marietta (Rock) Annis.
Edmund grew up on the family farm on Lyons Street in Peru; he later worked at area farms, especially the Edgar "Junior" Guay farm. He also worked at Coca Cola in Plattsburgh for 11 years and Bouyea Bakery for 5 years.
Edmund married Elizabeth (Pickle) Sanger on June 21, 1958, in Plattsburgh. Elizabeth died on Nov. 21, 1995.
He attended the Turnpike Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include three stepsons and their wives, Carroll David Sanger of Plattsburgh, Robert and Arlene Sanger of Florida, Stephen and Patricia Sanger of Florida; four stepdaughters and their husbands, Helen Rougier of Chazy, Pauline Passno of Plattsburgh, Dawn and Ralph Downey of Florida, Linda and Kenneth Cook of Chazy; three sisters, Annie Everhart of Long Island, Etta Farley of Glens Falls, Margaret Walker of Keeseville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and also a close friend, Joan Frenyea of Plattsburgh.
His, wife, Elizabeth; 11 sisters and brothers; and two stepchildren predeceased him.
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 10, 2009, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Plattsburgh Union Cemetery.
