Rosa Elmore Bootle, age 104, and wife of the late David T. Bootle, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community. Born and reared in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Carl Eugene and Maggie Culbertson Elmore and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Bootle was a graduate of Laurens High School, Winthrop University, and the University of South Carolina. She taught in the public schools of South Carolina for 20 years and was a high school guidance counselor for 15 years. She retired as a counselor from Lake City High School. Mrs. Bootle was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City for a number of years where she worked as a Sunday School Teacher, president of the WMU, and church librarian. She was presently a member of First Baptist Church of Laurens. She is survived by: her two nieces; Six nephews; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Ethel E. Phillips and Lois E. Pyke and her brothers, Carlos R. Elmore, J. Ansel Elmore, and Joe P. Elmore.Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2015, in Lake City Memorial Park, Lake City, SC conducted by Rev. Lester P. Branham. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community, Rasor Chapel, Laurens, SC conducted by Dr. Russell Dean and Rev. Rickey Letson. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends in the Rasor Chapel immediately following the service.Memorials may be made to Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, SC 29360.
